Buttermilk Caramel Sauce & Syrup

This stuff is truly amazing. I love to use it in place of syrup, but I also love it drizzled on almost any dessert. It is like a decadent caramel sauce.

Buttermilk Caramel Suace & Syrup
-Our Best Bites-

3/4 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 Tbsp. corn syrup
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine buttermilk, sugar, butter, corn syrup, and baking soda in a LARGE pot (to avoid having it boil over).

Bring ingredients to a boil and reduce heat to low (make sure it continues to bubble though). Cook, stirring very frequently, for 8-9 minutes. Don't let the bottom burn!

When it’s done, it will become golden-brown, like caramel. Remove from heat and add vanilla.

Serve over pancakes, waffles, french toast, brownies, ice cream sundays....You name it!
