Doreen's Homemade Bread

This incredible recipe comes from Grant's Great Grandma. And Grant's mom made a batch of this homemade bread for them EVERY WEEK! I can't imagine. I got spoiled while living with them, and when I was pregnant, every morning for breakfast, I would have a slice of homemade bread, toasted, with a glass of chocolate milk. YUM.

Doreen’s Homemade Bread

14 c. flour, sifted
1 T. yeast in ½ c. hot water (add sugar to activate)

In mixing bowl, combine:
5 c. warm water, plus 1 2/3 c. powdered milk
6 T. oil
6 T. sugar
2 T. salt
2 eggs beaten, with a little milk

Mix together ingredients, then add about 6-8 c. flour until dough is the consistency of a think cake batter. Add yeast mixture. Change blade to dough hook. Add remaining flour. Knead for about 5 minutes, until blisters appear. Let dough rise until double.

Pat dough into loaves and let rise until double.

Preheat oven to 450 degrees and bake for 3 minutes. Then, turn oven down to 375 degrees and bake for 40-45 minutes. Yields 6 loaves.
