I love that this can be made the night before. There is nothing like waking up to a hot breakfast with no prep at all!
1 ½ cups of John McCann Steel Cut Oatmeal
5 cups of water
Dash or two of salt
4 T. butter
2 T. vanilla
¼ to 1/3 cup of Pure Maple Syrup (depending on desired sweetness)
½ c. brown sugar
Put oatmeal, water, and salt in the crockpot right before going to bed. Set temp on low and cover. (For less mess- use a Crockpot liner.)
Oatmeal will look very strange in the morning...This is normal. Just stir it really well. Before serving add butter, sugar, vanilla, and maple syrup. Mix it all together.
Serve with milk. Extras can be saved and reheated.
